Se trata de un estudio colectivo, coordinado por José Luis Oyón y Juan José Gallardo en el que se estudia concienzudamente la relación entre el movimiento obrero radical y el nacimiento de nuevos barrios surgidos en los municipios limítrofes de Barcelona en donde se fue formando un auténtico cinturón rojinegro. Todos estos asentamientos formaban en realidad una única corona geográfica, jornalera e inmigrante, cuya lectura histórica ha de hacerse en conjunto.
