Esta historia da cabida a algo que suelen olvidar las historias de la filosofía: el fondo histórico, cultural y social sobre el cual filosofa el filósofo, y las realizaciones de las ciencias, las letras y las artes que le rodean y con las que convive. Ayudará así a ver que la filosofía ha sido siempre lo mismo: afán de saber, desazón ante la insuficiencia del disponible y cuestionamiento de éste, atención al conjunto del mundo y de la vida ?la humana en particular? para intentar comprenderlos, preguntar por su sentido ?o falta de sentido? y sacar consecuencias en vistas a ordenar racional o razonablemente la conducta.
