El presente libro establece, en primer lugar, el marco de referencia sobre la globalización y sus diversos enfoques, tratando temas sobre la sociedad internacional de ámbito planetario y otros referentes al desarrollo económico y social tanto en su dimensión general como regional, así como una reflexión crítica acerca del llamado «pensamiento único». Establecido el contexto general, se pasa al estudio del complejo e inquietante problema del desarrollo económico y social internacional, y tras él se aborda la protección internacional del medio ambiente en su dimensión general y en sus aspectos globales o regionales. Finalmente, se aborda el tema de la deuda externa, cuya influencia en el Derecho internacional del desarrollo no cabe desconocer.
