Su inmensa calidad literaria (comparable a la de Homero, para la épica) permanece inalterable con el transcurso de los años. Sus arriesgadas metáforas, sus sugerentes mitos, narrados como paradigma de las diversas situaciones de la acción humana, su ideario aristocrático en un momento en la cultura griega sufría transformaciones profundas, el sentido religioso que impregna toda la composición prestan a la obra pindárica un inmenso atractivo.
