El análisis cultural se halla inmerso en todo movimiento de contestación al Poder. En la emancipación de mordazas y cegueras monoteístas, teóricas y académicas, está la clave, no redentorista, del devenir antropológico. La sexualidad no ha sido tema de estudio recurrente en Antropología. Se silenciaba desde el Poder. Se huía de la sexualidad como se huye de la peste. De «apestados» -excepciones aparte- se trataba a los antropólogos «malditos» que se aventuraban en sus «turbadores» vericuetos.
Ahora, venturosamente, la cerrazón antropológica, aunque a regañadientes, á contre-coeur, ha dado paso a otros campos de investigación, entre los que se inserta la sexualidad. En esta línea emergente, de creciente interés, hay que situar Sexualidad y deseo: Crítica antropológica de la cultura.
