Aquesta obra planteja la problemàtica de la identitat col·lectiva i social en un territori molt concret (la zona oriental d'Aragó limítrof amb Catalunya) i la seva articulació amb una llengua molt concreta (la llengua catalana). Es pretén configurar un marc interpretatiu que permeti entendre uns tipus de relacions socials, actituds, comportaments, usos i costums, la percepció dels quals resulta distorsionada per causa d'una sèrie de perjudicis i preconcepcions que dificulten una relació distesa. Sovint tant des d'Aragó com des de Catalunya, s'atribueix a la gent d'aquestes comarques unes opinions, actituds i fets que deixaren atònita qualsevol persona mínimament informada. Aquest treball dóna veu als habitants catalanoparlants d'Aragó per tal que diguin la seva, ja que es troben enmig d'un foc ideològicament creuat en relació al qual tenen moltes coses a dir.
