Aquest llibre ens ho explica però també exposa com van néixer termes científics més usuals o menys (_big data, bosó de Higgs, CAPTCHA, Helicobacter pylori, psicodèlic, terres rares, vacunes_), neologismes molt recents (_CRISPR, desextinció, exoplaneta, pescaclics_) i fins i tot paraules que encara no estan acceptades, però que designen sensacions provocades per canvis ambientals i socials recents (_noctàlgia, vemödalen_).
