En un món distòpic que ha après a prescindir del teatre, un grup d’amics emprèn un viatge impossible cap a Bouvetøya, l’illa més remota del planeta: un tros de gel enmig del no-res. El que comença com una fugida, gairebé com una broma, es converteix aviat en una necessitat: arribar fins al cul del món per imaginar, plegats, una manera de tornar a començar. Amb ecos de Ray Bradbury i William Shakespeare, "Bouvetøya (la necessitat d’una illa)" és una faula distòpica sobre l’amistat, la lleialtat, la memòria i l’amor al teatre. Estrenada per primera vegada al festival Temporada Alta l’octubre del 2020, l’obra ha estat reescrita sis anys més tard per celebrar el 50è aniversari del Teatre Lliure i llançar, amb l’ajuda del públic, un missatge d’esperança cap al futur.
