Amb un to poètic i científic alhora, l’obra combina una narrativa impactant amb dades rigoroses per denunciar l’ús massiu de pesticides —especialment els efectes devastadors del DDT sobre el medi ambient i la salut humana— i apel·la a la responsabilitat col·lectiva proposant alternatives més segures per al control de plagues.
La seva denúncia va sacsejar l’opinió pública i va contribuir decisivament, anys més tard, a la prohibició del DDT als EUA i a importants canvis legislatius, obrint una nova etapa en la regulació dels pesticides.
Primavera silenciosa va inspirar la creació de l’Agència de Protecció Ambiental (EPA) als Estats Units i continua sent una lectura imprescindible: una crida urgent a la consciència i a l’acció davant les amenaces ambientals que encara pesen sobre el planeta.
