    El maig del 1976, més de tres mil dones de diferents sensibilitats polítiques i classes socials es van reunir a la Universitat de Barcelona per parlar obertament sobre l'opressió que patien històricament, intensificada durant la dictadura. Cinquanta anys després, les Primeres Jornades Catalanes de la Dona estan considerades com el moment d'eclosió del moviment feminista a Catalunya.

    Durant aquests debats es va discutir sobre temes tan vigents com la maternitat, la família i el treball, la sexualitat, el tractament de les dones als mitjans de comunicació, l'àmbit polític i el legislatiu, etc., i es van posar en pràctica propostes transformadores de les quals som hereves avui.
