La transhumància és una activitat quasi tan antiga com la humanitat. A Catalunya hi havia uns eixos principals que sortien de diferents indrets dels Pirineus i anaven fins a les planes empordaneses, al Penedès, al Camp de Tarragona, al Pla d'Urgell i al Vallès, així com els lligallos entre els Ports de Beseit i les ribes de l'Ebre. En aquest llibre hi trobareu una mica d'història, costums, l'ofici del pastor i el gos d'atura, les fires ramaderes i els productes que se'n deriven. I el que resulta més important: 20 camins detallats, amb els seus mapes i guies pràctiques, distribuïts per tot el territori, que són una petita mostra dels més de 20.000 km de camins ramaders que hi ha per tot Catalunya. La pràctica de la transhumància va ser declarada Patrimoni Immaterial Cultural de la Humanitat per la Unesco l'any 2023.
