El Conill no sap de què es tracta, però tant és: decideix ajudar-lo i es posa a cavar al seu costat. Van passant altres animals i l’escena es repeteix: tots s’uneixen a la recerca sense saber què deu ser això que el Ratolí busca amb tant d’afany. Entre tots arriben a la conclusió que ha de ser «una cosa bonica, brillant i grossa», i no s’equivoquen gens ni mica. Un llibre entranyable sobre la col·laboració i l'amistat que ens recorda que no fa falta cavar per a trobar coses boniques: l’únic que cal és obrir bé els ulls.
