En el bosque de Bellacorteza, en el hueco del roble donde Archibald Zorro regenta su librería, cualquier animal que lo desee puede dejar el libro que ha escrito y confiar en que algún día alguien lo comprará. Desde que se le escapan los recuerdos, Ferdinand Topo busca desesperadamente el libro que escribió y que recopila sus memorias, para así recordar qué cosas hizo y quiénes fueron sus seres queridos. Solo existe un ejemplar, que dejó hace años en la librería. Pero un misterioso cliente acaba de comprarlo... Con la ayuda de antiguas fotografías, Archibald y Ferdinand le siguen el rastro por el bosque, en un viaje donde se mezclarán sueños, recuerdos y realidad.
