La biografía de Joan Solé Cristòfol es más que insólita: alcalde republicano de una población del Pirineo, Bellver de Cerdanya, hombre de la Catalunya profunda de montaña que durante la Guerra Civil lideró la defensa de su pueblo de presiones y ataques de todo tipo. En la inmediata posguerra continuó defendiendo la democracia y la libertad, apoyó en todo y para todo a quienes combatían el nazismo y el fascismo, y asumió los riesgos que esto suponía. Esta investigación de Josep Maria Solé i Sabaté recoge su trayectoria vital y lo restituye al lugar que le corresponde en nuestra memoria democrática colectiva.
