Des de la impressió del primer llibre en llengua catalana, a València l’any 1474, l’aventura ha tingut dies de tot. L’edició catalana es nodreix avui, per tant, del bagatge d’una tradició de 550 anys, però també es troba en una cruïlla històrica amb reptes inèdits que fa poques dècades no eren ni tan sols imaginables. Aquest llibre de converses manlleva el títol d’un assaig de Joan Fuster que commemorava el primer mig mil·lenni d’edició catalana; tot just hem avançat unes quantes passes més, però val la pena aturar-se, pensar, valorar críticament la feina feta i prendre aire per continuar.
