En septiembre de 2023 se cumplen 50 años de uno de los episodios históricos de la segunda mitad del siglo XX de mayor impacto mundial: el golpe de estado cívico-militar en Chile contra el legítimo gobierno del político socialista Salvador Allende y el inicio de una larga y tenebrosa dictadura. Este libro recoge las fotografías del fotoperiodista holandés Chas Gerretsen documentando esos hechos. El 9 de enero de 1973, Gerretsen llegó a Santiago donde fotografió los momentos más convulsos del país. Sus fotografías históricas cubren el último año del gobierno de Allende y el golpe militar que dio lugar al régimen de Pinochet. Para registrar los cambios posteriores al golpe, regresó dos veces a Chile en 1974. Gerresten recibió el prestigioso premio ?Robert Capa Gold Medal Award? por sus imágenes de Chile. Para este libro, Gerretsen ha seleccionado más de 300 fotografías, muchas de ellas inéditas.
