No hi ha una apel·lació més escaient per a ella que la d'Antígona, com la va anomenar el seu amic Alexander Harveys, perquè hi havia alguna cosa "esplèndida i grega" en la seva "vida i veritat". El seu esperit indomable, la fe cega en les seves conviccions, la van convertir en una heroïna grega que va preferir l'esgotament i la presó abans que la submissió. L'escriptora Núria Bendicho i el pedagog Jordi Garcia analitzen el llegat d'aquesta activista del laïcisme i la justícia social, que ha girat al català la traductora Núria Busquet.
