Naturalista, ecofilósofa y conferenciante internacional, los libros de Lyanda Lynn Haupt exploran las complejas relaciones entre los seres humanos y el mundo natural, en la vanguardia del movimiento para reconectar a la gente con el medio ambiente y con la llamada de lo salvaje en su vida cotidiana. Entre sus principales obras, producto de su observación de aves y sus paseos por bosques y ciudades, se encuentran Crow Planet: Essential Wisdom from the Urban Wilderness, ganador del premio Sigurd F. Olson Nature Writing 2010, y Rare Encounters with Ordinary Birds, ganador del Washington State Book Award, así como un bestiario urbano que fue finalista del Orion Book Award. En su vida profesional, ha creado y dirigido programas educativos para la Seattle Audubon Society, ha trabajado en la rehabilitación de aves rapaces en Vermont y ha sido investigadora de aves marinas para el Servicio de Pesca y Vida Silvestre de los Estados Unidos en el remoto Pacífico tropical.
