Barcelona 1931, l’any que milers de famílies obreres van deixar de pagar el lloguer. Amb motiu de l’Exposició Universal del 1929, Barcelona va rebre l’arribada massiva de mà d’obra. La ciutat va passar a doblar la població, amb el consegüent problema d’habitatge. Amb el final de l’Exposició, una crisi cruel va deixar els obrers sense feina. Davant la incapacitat de pagar el preu abusiu dels lloguers van arribar els desnonaments i la revolta als barris obrers. Barcelona va viure així la primera reivindicació històrica per aconseguir unes condicions dignes en l’habitatge.
