Mila vive en una cabaña con sus dos hermanas, Pípa y Sanna, y su hermano, Oskar, en el bosque de Eldbjørn, donde, desde hace mucho tiempo, reina un invierno eterno.
Una fría noche, reciben la visita de un misterioso desconocido con el que su hermano se marcha al día siguiente sin decir nada. Convencida de que Oskar corre un terrible peligro, Mila decide ir en su busca y se embarca en una gran aventura junto a un joven mago a través de montañas y bosques donde habitan criaturas desconocidas.
