_Els noms dels ocells en el llenguatge popular català_ pretén, abans que el temps ho esborri, documentar la riquesa ornitonímica catalana, és a dir, les diferents maneres d'anomenar els ocells per part de la nostra comunitat lingu?ística, a més de la seva aparició en diverses manifestacions del llenguatge popular. Així, s'han recollit 6.816 sinònims de 387 espècies d'ocells salvatges, ferals o domesticats, i s'han consignat frases fetes, refranys, lèxic i argot, derivats, endevinalles, mimologismes, topònims i altres facetes on eren presents. El criteri d'admissió ha estat d'àmplia acollida i per descomptat que deu haver-hi encara material per afegir: el treball continua obert a noves incorporacions. EL LLIBRE S'ADREÇA TANT A L'ORNITÒLEG, EXPERT O AFICIONAT, COM A L'INTERESSAT EN EL LLENGUATGE. EL PRIMER HI TROBARÀ VALUOSA INFORMACIÓ DE DIVERSOS ASPECTES DELS OCELLS QUE ES RELACIONEN AMB ELS NOMS (HÀBITAT, COMPORTAMENT, DIETA...). EL SEGON GAUDIRÀ AMB L'EXUBERÀNCIA DELS SINÒNIMS I COM AQUESTS SÓN SUBJECTES DE NOMBROSÍSSIMES EXPRESSIONS DEL LLENGUATGE CATALÀ.
