Davant l’ascens dels neonazis als anys 60, analitzava objectius, mitjans i tàctiques de la nova extrema dreta del seu temps. La comparava amb el «vell» feixisme i es preguntava per què vint anys després de la fi de la guerra assolia aquell predicament. Moltes coses han canviat des d’aleshores, però n’hi ha que no. O fins i tot que han retornat. Per això aquest llibre es pot llegir com un «missatge en l’ampolla». A l’epíleg Volker Weiss explica la seua extraordinària significació avui dia, quan l’extrema dreta és de nou una amenaça.
