Els articles de Josep Torrent inclouen un bon grapat de gèneres: el reportatge, l’anàlisi política, l’entrevista, la notícia, l’article d’opinió... La seua obra és enorme: milers d’articles sempre vinculats a la política entesa en el seu sentit més ampli, el que ho inclou tot, des del futbol fins a la normalització lingüística passant per la corrupció, les eleccions i les picabaralles internes dels partits. Malgrat aquesta pluralitat de temes i formats, totes les peces de Torrent tenen una característica: estan sempre apegades al terreny i tenen la voluntat d’ajudar a fer un País Valencià millor. Encara que no estava pensat així, va deixar per a les noves generacions una mostra de periodisme que retrata tota una època.
