A la Vall Fosca hi ha un hospital fet de cartró. Rosegat pel temps i arrugat, com un llibre, l'hospital explica la història de la nostra gent. Aquest edifici singular, que porta la firma de Christoph & Unmack, va servir com a hospital per als obrers de la Central de Capdella l'any 1912. A partir del 1933, però, va anar perdent aquesta funció i es va utilitzar com a caserna o magatzem, gràcies a la qual cosa s'ha mantingut fins ara. Seguint l'evolució de l'arquitectura prefabricada europea durant la primera meitat del segle xx, l'autora explica els canvis que hi va haver al Pirineu amb l'inici de l'explotació hidroelèctrica. Alhora, reivindica aquesta arquitectura que ha sabut combinar els recursos del territori i la tecnologia amb les noves maneres de viure i habitar.
