Cap autor ha escrit amb més entusiasme sobre el menjar que A. J. Liebling. Gust per París (1962), el darrer llibre del gran autor de Nova York, és un suggeridor relat de la seva éducation sentimentale en la cuina francesa entre els anys 1926 i 1927, quan personatges com Ernest Hemingway i Gertrude Stein forjaren la seva llegenda en els cafès parisencs. El que havia de ser un viatge d'estudis es va convertir al cap de poc en un pretext per deixar-ho tot i aprofundir en el que realment importava: el delicat art del menjar.
