Una tragèdia, perquè ara la seva amiga Winnie –una noia d’onze anys que viu a la casa del costat– s’ha quedat una mica sola al carrer Grove, preguntant-se amb qui sortirà a jugar la resta de l’estiu. Fins que li diuen que una família ha comprat la casa de l’Iggie: són els Garber, una parella amb tres fills. Quan desembarquen a la casa, la sorpresa és majúscula: són negres, els primers del barri!
