Cadascun d'aquests llocs han estat triats a partir dels punts d'interès geològic de Catalunya que han estat publicats digitalment al Departament de Territori i Sostenibilitat de la Generalitat de Catalunya, i seleccionats d'acord amb els criteris de facilitat d'accés i poca complexitat geològica. Aquests punts permeten fer un recorregut per tota la geografia de Catalunya i també un primer tast de geologia. És un pretext per estimular el coneixement d'aquest món natural que sovint resta amagat. Es facilita la informació geològica necessària per identificar els materials i les estructures en cada cas, i està fet de la manera més assequible possible per a les persones no especialistes. És un llibre útil, amb molta informació fiable i acompanyat de dibuixos, esquemes i fotografies que ajuden a comprendre cadascun dels llocs descrits.
