Al poblet regna el nerviosisme: l'Asegurançatòrix ha decidit participar al famós Concurs de Bards Gals amb la intenció d'endur-se el primer premi: el Menhir d'Or. Per protegir-lo durant la competició, que és seguida de ben a prop pels romans, l'Astèrix i l'Obèlix l'acompanyaran amb un sol objectiu: no treure-li l'ull de sobre, encara que això signifiqui perdre una orella. Un tresor retrobat de René Goscinny i Albert Uderzo! Aquesta aventura, que va aparèixer per primera vegada el 1967 en format de llibre-disc, és pràcticament impossible de trobar i mai no havia estat publicada en format d'àlbum. René Goscinny la va escriure amb el seu nervi habitual específicament per gravar-la en format d'àudio, i Albert Uderzo va il·lustrar el llibret que acompanyava el disc amb la seva inigualable mestria gràfica. Per aquests dos motius calia donar-li el valor que es mereix i incloure-la en la col·lecció d'àlbums il·lustrats d'Astèrix.
