Publicado en 1938, cuando la Guerra Civil española aún no había terminado, este fotolibro recoge imágenes que resultan espectaculares aún hoy, tomadas en el lado republicano y acompañadas de textos del propio Robert Capa, donde no esconde sus simpatías por el bando perdedor. El libro es un facsímil de la edición original, con maqueta de André Kertesz y fotografías de Capa, Chim y Gerda Taro, fallecida en la batalla de Brunete. Las imágenes, emocionantes y cercanas, recorren tanto la frenética actividad del frente como el día a día en las ciudades, regido por los toques de queda, la escasez y la incertidumbre.
