Josep-Ramon Bach va conéixer Barry Timothy Walker a Nova York, el 1978. Dos anys abans ja havia llegit el seu poemari, Eustace, i en va quedar impressionat. Allà va sortir la idea de les versions que ara, finalment, es publiquen, després d'innumerables correccions. Eustace, com altres versions de Bach, parla amb la veu instintiva de qui ha volgut desaprendre per poder ser poeta. Un poeta que practica una lírica austera, de contundència mineral, que mai no oblida la ironia que ens parla del rebuig vers un món fet a mida de la mediocritat més criminal. Criminal com en els escenaris que Timothy Walker va voler evocar amb el seu Eustace, un heterònim que ens mira des d'un mirall compost, com l'ull d'aquella mosca que ens emprenya però ens fa sentir vius.
