Se trata de un caso muy alarmante del que se encargan el inspector Jeppe Korner y su compañera Anette Werner. Cuando descubren que la casera de Julie, una profesora y escritora amateur de novela negra, se había inspirado en la chica para crear un personaje que aparece asesinado del mismo modo, los policías enseguida establecen el vínculo entre las dos mujeres y se creen cerca de la resolución del caso.
