Este libro invita a cuestionar algunos de los legados historiográficos que persisten sobre la Revolución cubana, trasladando el análisis de la lucha en las montañas a la acción en las ciudades, estudiando el movimiento estudiantil, las instituciones cívicas y las redes clandestinas; y de esta manera comprender las relaciones de género en estos procesos insurreccionales.
Muestra cómo las mujeres pusieron a su favor los prejuicios (percibidas como débiles e incapaces) para pasar desapercibidas entre grupos del exilio y las guerrillas.
