Amb aquest llibre volem recuperar la figura i l’obra de l’eminent filòleg del segle xix, en Pere Labèrnia i Esteller, nat a Traiguera el 1802 i mort a Barcelona el 1860. Es pretén donar valor a totes les seues dimensions humanes, socials i culturals. Primer, com a gran lexicògraf (publica diccionaris de català, castellà i llatí), com a gramàtic (compta amb gramàtiques de la llengua castellana i la llatina), com a humanista i poeta; però, també, com a bon pedagog, empresari, publicista, acadèmic i pare de família. Es tracta d’una figura molt significativa de la Renaixença catalana.
