La subcultura gótica arrancó silenciosa en 1980 pero no comenzó a arraigar aquí hasta 1982 bajo el término periodístico de onda siniestra. Desde Madrid, Alaska y Los Pegamoides fueron pioneros en dar a conocer los iconos ingleses del género. Aunque el texto abarca desde el año 1981 hasta 1985, también da cabida a bandas y hechos posteriores cuando el fenómeno empezaba tímidamente a denominarse gótico. Trece capítulos, trece, dedicados a rescatar la historia de decenas de grupos musicales estatales que encontraron su sonido en la pesadumbre, lóbregos jardines, cementerios y las tinieblas de ultratumba, complementados con imágenes impagables de Miguel Trillo, Francesc Fàbregas, Alberto Morante o Xavier Mercadé, entre otros, que lo captaron todo certeramente.
