La marginació social patida per una part dels descendents dels jueus conversos constitueix un dels temes clàssics de la història de Mallorca. Tot i això, la investigació s’ha centrat fins ara en els orígens medievals del problema, en les conversions dels segles XIV-XV, en els devastadors actes de fe de 1679 i 1691 i en la propagació de l’estigma contra els anomenats ‘xuetes’ entre els segles XVII i XVIII. Aquest volum analitza la pervivència de la qüestió xueta a Mallorca durant l’edat contemporània tant des del punt de vista de l’exclusió social com del manteniment de la identitat del col·lectiu i les manifestacions que ha tingut en la creació literària.
