No és estrany, doncs, que les llegendes sobre fabulosos tresors submergits ?reals o imaginats? siguin habituals en totes les costes del món. L'arqueologia subaquàtica esclata cap a mitjan segle XX, gràcies als avenços tècnics en submarinisme. Geòrgia Costa i Gemma Sebares repassen els grans descobriments subaquàtics a casa nostra: des de la Draga, l'extraordinari poblat neolític al llac de Banyoles, fins al Ciudad de Barcelona, enfonsat davant de Malgrat per un submarí durant la Guerra Civil, passant per barques de pesca, galions o vaixells de mercaderies. Cada excavació subaquàtica ?al Port de la Selva, Deltebre, Empúries, Tarragona, Castelldefels...? ha aportat llum a un tros de la nostra història, amb la recuperació de peces singulars, sovint molt ben conservades gràcies a la protecció de l'aigua.
