L’any 1924 Fages de Climent publica el seu primer poemari, "Les bruixes de Llers". En ell poetitza tot un seguit de mites i costums al voltant d’aquestes figures malignes que ubica en un poble del seu Empordà, paisatge real -però també mític- del poeta. La passió de Fages pel classicisme i per la tradició popular li permet, en aquesta ocasió, reflectir en els poemes tant l’admiració pels autors catalans que l’han precedit –amb l’ús d’una riquesa lèxica, estilística i de registres que implica un extraordinari domini de la llengua- com el gust per la lírica tradicional. Aquesta edició, amb pròleg de Mariàngela Vilallonga, inclou el pòrtic de la primera edició, a càrrec de Ventura Gassol i els dibuixos que un jove Salvador Dalí, encara desconegut, va fer per a la primera edició i que han quedat per sempre més vinculats al poemari.
