Los lectores verán enseguida cómo las relaciones entre religión y Estado pasaron por diferentes vicisitudes y etapas, y que en puridad deberíamos hablar del papel que jugaron las Iglesias (en plural) o si se prefiere de los papeles (en plural) que jugó la Iglesia.
