Gregorio Sampson se despierta un día por la mañana y descubre que se ha convertido en un bicho gigante: en un escarabajo de color marrón rojizo, para ser exactos. Pero nadie se da cuenta de esta metamorfosis: ni los padres de Gregorio, ni su hermana pequeña, ni sus profesores, ni tampoco los niños de la escuela. Sólo su mejor amigo, Miguel, nota el cambio. Y Miguel quiere que su amigo Gregorio vuelva a ser el mismo de antes. Pero ¿cómo pasó de niño a bicho? ¿y por qué a la gente parece ser que no le importe? Mientras Gregorio busca respuestas (y la manera de recuperar su identidad), tienen lugar un puñado de historias sobre la necesidad de amor y de aceptación.
