El Llibre dels fets, un text a mitjan camí entre les memòries i l'autobiografia, narra les gestes militars i polítiques que van donar origen al nostre poble, com també les petites anècdotes i les experiències més íntimes de la vida quotidiana del monarca. Una obra cabdal que va iniciar, juntament amb les aportacions d'un altre personatge extraordinari com fou Ramon Llull, la literatura feta en la nostra llengua.
