Arribat al Berguedà, es fa miner del carbó i esdevé un vell talp.L'Aurora, la seva néta, hereta l'esperit radical de l'avi. És fornera a la colònia minera de Sant Corneli, a Cercs. A l'obrador, no s'hi cou només pa, sinó també la revolta que esclata a l'Alt Berguedà pel gener de 1932. Després ve la Guerra Civil, la derrota dels que creuen en una societat igualitària, l'exili, la presó i el maquis.
