El debat sobre el finançament dels partits polítics, sovint posat sota sospita, s'accentua cada vegada que hi ha comicis electorals. Atès que els partits formen part del funcionament d'una democràcia, l'Estat, sembla, n'ha de garantir la supervivència; i per fer-ho, pot crear les condicions perquè siguin els mateixos partits els que trobin els diners per finançar-se o bé pot, el mateix Estat, subvencionar part de les despeses dels partits, combinant-ho amb un finançament privat, a través de donacions. Aquest llibre presenta el sistema de finançament dels partits a l'Estat espanyol i el procés que s'ha seguit per fixar l'actual llei de finançament. Mostra també el finançament públic de l'activitat dels partits a altres estats europeus i les regles de control i fiscalització.
