RAÚL ZURITA nació en Santiago, Chile, el año 1950. Ha obtenido las becas Guggenheim y Andes, los Premios Pablo Neruda, José Lezama Lima, Nacional de Literatura de Chile, entre otros muchos nacionales e internacionales. El 2 de junio de 1982, sobre la ciudad de Nueva York escribió su poema ?La Vida Nueva?, realizado a 4.500 metros de altura mediante aviones que lo trazaron con letras de humo blanco recortándose contra el azul del cielo. Cada una de las 15 frases de este poema midió aproximadamente 9 kilómetros, por lo que pudo ser visto desde grandes sectores. Este libro ha sido traducido entre otras lenguas al ruso y al inglés. La extraordinaria poesía de Zurita hacen de él el nuevo gran sucesor de Neruda y de las cumbres de la poesía hispanoamericana.
