La historia de Rutu Modan se basa en sus propios recuerdos de infancia y en una conversación con su hija durante la cena: molesta por las malas manera de la niña a la mesa, la dibujante le preguntó, ?¿Qué harías si la reina te invitara a cenar en su palacio??.
