Josep Carner-Ribalta (Balaguer 1898 - Simi Valley 1988). Fou escriptor, poeta, traductor, publicista, cineasta i pintor; però sobretot fou un activista catalanista independentista. Acompanyà Macià a Moscou, a Prats de Molló i a l?Havana com a secretari de relacions exteriors d?Estat Català. Treballà a la Paramount a Nova York i a Hollywood com a guionista. De tornada a Barcelona, fou el primer cap de premsa del Parlament i esdevingué secretari de Gassol a la Conselleria de Cultura on acabà ocupant el càrrec de comissari d?espectacles. En 1937 fugí a l?exili i aterrà a Nova York on formà part de la delegació del Consell Nacional de Catalunya i fou redactor a la revista Free Catalonia. Presentà a l?ONU el Cas de Catalunya. Defensà Catalunya i la seva cultura en manifests, articles, assaigs, novel·les, poemes, peces teatrals i biografies.
