Este acontecimiento distorsionó toda la vida del autor, el padre, aislándolo de la vida exterior y sumiéndolo en un frío intenso y doloroso. Hermann no pudo escribir sobre aquella terrible pérdida hasta pasados más de diez años... El fruto fueron estas hermosas y estremecedoras páginas. Que no sólo narran aquella experiencia, sino también el proceso de «resurrección» que tuvo que afrontar el propio autor para sobrevivir al dolor, para hacer que la vida volviera a ser, al menos, soportable.
