Alejandro Casona juega con la fantasía y la realidad en el teatro. Estamos, y se ve desdela primera escena, ante una escenificación del teatro dentro del tetaro, no al modo pirandelliano, sino instrumentando elementos del vodevil. Esta obra nos ofrece un mundo tocado de fantasía y unos personajes que ejemplifican una idea moral. Desde la escena pretenden mostrar y demostrar al espectador el bien, la belleza, la vida en su expresión más genuina, bondadosa y maravillosa. Su función es orientar hacia el sendero de las fuentes cristalianas y limpias de una vida mejor.
