Pirandello convida el lector a ser testimoni d?allò que normalment no té ocasió de conèixer al voltant de l?experiència teatral i, en un dels seus textos més cèlebres, posa damunt la taula les principals inquietuds de la seva obra literària, com la impossibilitat de comunicació de l?ésser humà, la identitat múltiple de cada individu o la reflexió sobre la relació entre l?art i la vida.
