Joan Perucho (1920-2003) és un dels grans escriptors catalans del segle xx. Poeta, novel·lista i crític d'art, la seva personalitat polifacètica abasta àmbits molt diversos: la màgia, la gastronomia, els viatges, l'erotisme, la bibliofília o les vides de sants. Julià Guillamon ha pres la figura de l'autor de Les històries naturals com a fil conductor d'un llibre que reconstrueix com no s'havia fet mai el clima cultural de la postguerra, una biografia coral que presenta Perucho al costat de Joan Miró i Salvador Espriu, Antoni Tàpies i Nèstor Luján, Álvaro Cunqueiro i Albert Porta Zush.
