El elocuente ejemplo de las relaciones entre España y las capitales del arte europeo durante los siglos XVIII y XIX permite confirmar el carácter renovador de la Roma del setecientos y evaluar el dominio de París en el siglo XIX. El propósito es situar el arte español en los ejes de circulación e intercambio que vertebraban Europa entre las épocas moderna y contemporánea.
